Canadian actor Kiefer Sutherland was detained in Hollywood for assaulting a rideshare driver, the Los Angeles police reported, according to LETA citing AFP.
The star of the series "24" was arrested after police responded to a call in Hollywood shortly after midnight.
"During the investigation, it was determined that the suspect, later identified as Kiefer Sutherland, entered a rideshare vehicle, physically assaulted the driver (the victim), and made criminal threats against him," the police statement said.
A few hours later, the 59-year-old actor was released on bail set at $50,000, law enforcement officials reported.
According to police, the driver did not suffer any injuries requiring medical attention.
Sutherland is known for his roles in the series "24" as well as in the films "The Lost Boys," "Stand by Me," and "The Three Musketeers."
Kiefer Sutherland is the son of actor Donald Sutherland, who passed away in 2024.
