George Clooney: as the father of eight-year-old twins, I often feel like an 'idiot' due to the language barrier

The Hollywood actor talked about family jokes, the language barrier, and life away from Los Angeles

American actor George Clooney, known for his roles in film and active public stance, shared rare family details on the radio show The Capital Evening Show. He talked about how his eight-year-old twins Ella and Alexander tease him by speaking in languages he doesn’t understand.

Clooney, who married British human rights lawyer Amal Clooney in 2014 and is raising children with her, admitted that he often feels 'out of the loop' when Italian or French is spoken at home. According to the actor, his children communicate fluently in these languages, which he himself has not learned, and this has become a source of good-natured family jokes.

“They tease me right in front of my eyes, and I just sit there thinking, 'What did you say? What are you talking about?'” Clooney laughed. “My wife understands everything, the other family members do too, and I look like an idiot.”

The actor stated that he does not regret the time spent with his children and believes that fatherhood later in life has helped him to reassess his life priorities, focusing more on family and not striving for constant career pressures.

Previously, Clooney had discussed his children's language skills, calling them 'burned to the bone' because they use their knowledge to tease their parents.

The actor's family prefers a quiet lifestyle in France, where they spend most of the year on their farm, avoiding excessive paparazzi attention and the noisy hustle of city life.
