People: 69-Year-Old Sex and the City Star Kim Cattrall Secretly Got Married.

Kim Cattrall has several dozen bright roles to her credit, but for most fans, she is primarily remembered as Samantha Jones from the series Sex and the City. Her character, liberated and open to experimentation, defined the worldview of an entire generation. At the same time, the actress has always sought to distance herself from the image of a sexual seductress. She has repeatedly emphasized that, unlike Samantha, she is not interested in frequently changing partners. However, she has experienced three divorces, two broken engagements, and numerous high-profile romances.

Secret Marriage

In early December 2025, it became known that Kim Cattrall had secretly gotten married. The actress's chosen one is sound engineer Russell Thomas, who is 14 years younger than her. The closed and quite modest ceremony by celebrity standards took place in London. The couple invited only 12 people — just family members and closest friends.

Cattrall and Thomas met in 2016 and quickly began dating. For a long time, they tried to keep their romance out of the spotlight.

"I Love Younger Men"

Unlike her character Samantha Jones, who avoided marriage, Cattrall has been married four times. The first time was at the age of 20. Her husband was Canadian writer, screenwriter, and producer Larry Davis. But this relationship lasted only two years. Later, the actress explained the brevity of this union by saying that she was too young for marriage.

"When Larry and I met, we had common goals. But soon he stopped understanding that ambition and the need for self-expression were just as important to me as they were to him. And I realized that I couldn't change him, but I wasn't ready to compromise with myself either," Kim Cattrall explained.

The romance that began in 1980 with then-Prime Minister of Canada Pierre Trudeau also did not stand the test of time. She was 25, he was 60. They met at the premiere of the film Tribute, quickly began dating, but did not last together for even a year.

But in 1982, Cattrall married German architect André Lison. For him, the actress moved to Germany and learned German, but due to work, she still spent a lot of time in the USA. Life between two countries negatively affected their relationship, and after seven years, the couple decided to part ways.

In 1995, Kim met theater actor Daniel Benzali on a blind date. After two years of dating, he proposed to her. The actress agreed to become his wife, but a few months later suddenly broke off the engagement.

Cattrall decided to marry for the third time in 1998, the year the first season of Sex and the City premiered. Her husband was sound engineer Mark Levinson. For six years, the couple appeared very happy and even co-authored a book titled Satisfaction: The Art of the Female Orgasm, in which they shared some intimate details of their lives. The news of their separation was all the more unexpected.

The actress admitted that this marriage fell apart due to her work on Sex and the City. Levinson felt lonely and abandoned because she was never home due to her intense shooting schedule. For the same reason, Cattrall had to say goodbye to her dreams of motherhood.

"I was just over 40, I had just started filming Sex and the City. There were chances to get pregnant through IVF. But my schedule got in the way. Shifts lasted 19 hours or more... How could I combine pregnancy and work, especially at that age? That was when I first realized that I wouldn't have children," she explained.

After her third divorce, Cattrall began dating only much younger men. In 2003, she had a brief romance with basketball player Coutinho Mobley, who was 20 years younger than her. He was followed by equally young Canadian chef Alan Wise, with whom Cattrall dated from 2004 to 2005. The couple broke up amid scandal after news of the actress's affair with a co-star emerged.

However, in 2007, they reconciled and even announced their engagement, but two years later, they finally parted ways. Cattrall was once again the initiator of the breakup. She was also rumored to have had romances with philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy, musician Gerald Casale, actor Alexander Siddig, and contemporary artist Clifford Ross.

"I love younger men. They are much more open to strong and independent women than men my age," the actress said.

No Longer Single

At one point, Cattrall began to feel that she would never meet someone with whom she could build a strong and long-term relationship. But everything changed in 2016 when she came to London for filming for the BBC, where she met her fourth husband, sound engineer Russell Thomas.

It was not love at first sight. They simply liked each other and decided to have lunch together. Casual conversations flowed into an exchange of social media follows. After that, Cattrall flew to Vancouver, where she was living at the time. That could have been the end of it, but Thomas wrote to her, and after a short virtual communication, he also flew to Vancouver.

"It was very brave of him because we didn't really know each other and had only seen each other at a few lunches. But he came, we got along great, and we've been together ever since," the actress said.

Although it took Cattrall a full 10 years to decide to marry for the fourth time, she considers meeting Thomas a true gift from heaven. Her relationship with him saved her during the most difficult period of her life when she lost her father and then her younger brother.

Cattrall noted that Thomas is the first man with whom she feels calm and confident about the future. According to the actress, he respects her personal space, does not get jealous of her work, and supports her in all her endeavors.
