A student from Moscow transferred jewelry worth 150 million rubles (over 1.5 million euros) to scammers.

A student from Moscow fell under the influence of scammers and transferred jewelry worth 150 million rubles (over 1.5 million euros). It is specified that the girl herself took the money to the fraudsters under the pretext of declaration and fighting against criminals.

The scammers contacted her by phone and informed her about an alleged hacking of her account in the "State Services" application. They first convinced the student that money from her accounts had been directed to finance criminal groups, and then assured her that the only way to protect her family's assets was to bring them to the Moscow region and hand them over to a courier for declaration.

The victim's mother learned about what had happened and contacted law enforcement agencies. The capital's criminal investigation operatives quickly tracked down the criminals and detained the courier, coordinator, intermediary, and seller. The scammers did not manage to sell the jewelry, so it will soon be returned to its owner.
