In China, an engineer with hemorrhoids was fired due to frequent and lengthy bathroom breaks.
In China, a man with the surname Li has sued a company that fired him for frequent bathroom breaks. This was reported by the South China Morning Post.
Company representatives provided the court with surveillance footage. It shows that engineer Li took bathroom breaks 14 times in one month. These breaks usually lasted over an hour. The longest bathroom break taken by the man lasted four hours.
Li stated that these breaks were related to his health condition. According to him, he suffers from hemorrhoids. To support his claim, the engineer provided receipts for the purchase of relevant medications and documents regarding a surgery he underwent.
However, all this evidence pertains to the period after Li had already been fired. The company noted that the man should have informed his supervisor about his condition in advance and taken sick leave, as per his employment contract.
The court acknowledged that Li spent more time in the bathroom than his body required. However, it also ordered the company to pay the dismissed employee 30,000 yuan (338,000 rubles) for the contribution he made to its development.
