5 household appliances that consume the most electricity

You will be surprised how much some familiar devices increase your bills.

Our homes are full of electrical appliances and gadgets, but not everyone knows which of them have the greatest impact on electricity bills. If you want to save money, it’s important to understand which devices consume the most energy.

Clothes Dryers

The average cycle of a dryer consumes about 4.5 kWh. It is one of the most energy-intensive appliances in the house. To reduce costs, it’s worth drying clothes naturally or using the energy-saving mode.

Dishwashers

Dishwashers consume between 0.5 to 2 kWh per cycle. The savings are simple: run the machine only when fully loaded or choose the eco-mode.

Refrigerators with Freezers

The average consumption of a refrigerator with a freezer is about 1.5 kWh per day. It cannot be turned off, but it is quite possible to reduce consumption. Regularly defrost the freezer, open the door as infrequently as possible, and store only cooled products in the refrigerator.

Washing Machines

A washing machine uses about 2.1 kWh per cycle. To spend less electricity: wash with a full load, turn on the eco-mode, and avoid pre-washing. Most stains can be removed with cold water.

Electric Ovens

An electric oven consumes about 0.87 kWh per hour. Use the fan mode, do not preheat the oven unnecessarily, and turn it off immediately after use. If cooking for one or two people, choose more economical appliances — a microwave, toaster, or air fryer.
