Stop Stinking! Malysheva Praised the Invention of Indian Scientists

Doctor Malysheva praised the inventors of shoe shelves with ultraviolet lamps.

Doctor and TV presenter Elena Malysheva praised the invention of Indian scientists that will help eliminate unpleasant odors from shoes.

She explained that Indian scientists, one of whom was researcher Vikash Kumar, wrote a scientific article titled "Stinky Shoes: An Opportunity for Redesigning Shoe Shelves." In it, the specialists proposed using ultraviolet lamps on shoe shelves to get rid of unpleasant odors from boots. Malysheva explained that UV radiation kills the fungus that causes shoes to emit foul smells.

The doctor clarified that the researchers from India were awarded the Ig Nobel Prize for this finding. However, Malysheva emphasized that many of those who received this award were addressing real-life problems faced by people, and she praised the authors of the work. "We really love scientists who love science. (...) They came up with a shelf so it doesn’t stink," the doctor said.
