The stroke-provoking night habit has been named.

Cardiologist Echimen Aneni warned that the habit of sleeping at night under artificial light sources may increase the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. He discussed this dangerous habit with Huffington Post.

Aneni noted that a study published recently in the JAMA Network Open journal showed that sleeping in light provokes the development of heart failure, ischemic heart disease, atrial fibrillation, myocardial infarction, and stroke.

According to the doctor, the issue is that exposure to light can disrupt the circadian rhythm and shorten sleep duration. It is known that a lack of sleep or sleep disturbances is indeed associated with an increased risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.

The doctor also pointed out that women are more sensitive to light-related circadian rhythm disturbances than men. He stated that among women working night shifts, the incidence of heart failure is higher than among men.
