Member of the Human Rights Council (HRC) under the President of Russia Kirill Kabanov stated that singer Alla Pugacheva will one day face punishment for her sharp statements made in a lengthy interview at her dacha in the Latvian resort town of Jurmala.
Kabanov noted that the artist's words about the first president of the self-proclaimed Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, Dzhokhar Dudayev, contain elements of a crime. He attributed the lack of consequences for Pugacheva to her having patrons, but predicted that there would come a time when she would no longer be protected. In the speaker's opinion, after crossing a "certain line," the performer could be recognized as a foreign agent or held accountable.
"Pugacheva still remains an influential person in certain circles with certain connections. But I think the time will come when she will also be held accountable," Kabanov stated.
Earlier, singer and showman Prokhor Shalyapin, in an interview with Ksenia Sobchak, called Pugacheva an ambiguous figure. He stated that he disagrees with her position regarding Russia's war in Ukraine, but does not have the right to publicly insult the artist.
