The right ratio of tea, coffee, and water consumption extends life.

Researchers from the United Kingdom have found that the right ratio of coffee, tea, and water can extend life. According to a study published in the British Journal of Nutrition (BJN), the lowest risk of premature death is observed in those who consume about seven to eight cups of beverages a day with a ratio of two parts coffee to three parts tea.

The work is based on data from over 182,000 participants from the UK Biobank, who were observed for 13 years. People who adhered to a 'balanced regime' were less likely to die from cardiovascular, respiratory, and digestive diseases. However, the benefits were only evident with a sufficient overall fluid intake — consuming less than four cups a day did not yield any effect.

Researchers explain that coffee is rich in chlorogenic acid, which protects blood vessels and the intestines, while tea contains catechins with anti-inflammatory properties. Together, they enhance the body's antioxidant defenses.

However, specialists remind us that excessive caffeine consumption (more than three cups of coffee a day) can cause insomnia and increased heart rate, so it is important to maintain moderation.
