Psychiatrist Calls for One Habit Before Sleep

Psychiatrist: using a smartphone before sleep suppresses melatonin secretion, disrupting healthy sleep.

Psychiatrist Fernando Mora urged to adopt one habit before sleep to improve the quality of nighttime rest. His words were reported by El Español.

Mora advised against using smartphones and other gadgets 30 minutes before sleep. "The brightness of screens activates the brain when it should be relaxing, which negatively affects sleep," he warned.

According to the specialist, blue light from screens suppresses the production of melatonin—the hormone that regulates circadian rhythms. As a result, insomnia may not only occur, but mood can also worsen. "If you disconnect 30 minutes before sleep, your rest and emotional health will thank you," the doctor concluded.
