Popular Ukrainian singer Tina Karol explained for the first time why she sent her only son Veniamin to study in England when he was 8 years old, writes Focus.

The artist, who raised her son alone after the death of her husband and producer Yevgeny Ogir, admitted that her decision was driven by a fear of excessive guardianship from relatives and a desire to provide her son with a normal childhood, independent of her star status. She stated this during an interview with Anna Khaustova.

"I wouldn’t have coped with that life if I hadn’t done this. So that he wouldn’t grow up as a 'mama’s boy', so that there wouldn’t be this thing where grandmothers are around and everyone brings things. This had to be overcome," explained the 40-year-old performer.

Raising Veniamin

Tina noted that after the tragic loss of her husband, the whole family tried to take care of the boy as much as possible, and this could have hindered his independence. The artist decided that the best option for his development would be complete independence from the star environment.

"At that time, everyone condemned me for this step, accusing me of 'abandoning my child'," Karol shared, emphasizing that this was a mistaken judgment. She highlighted that she constantly maintained contact with her son and regularly visited him.

A Ukrainian family was chosen for Veniamin, who took care of him so that he would grow up in a cultural environment familiar to him.

Now 16-year-old Veniamin is studying at college. He independently chose a technical direction, studying economics, political science, and business. In his free time, the boy enjoys playing football.

The singer admits that she insisted Veniamin not tie his future to the music industry, although, considering his creative environment, this might have seemed like an obvious choice.
