Interrogation, Fingerprints, and Search: Alexander Vasiliev Suspected of Robbing the Louvre

Alexander Vasiliev was suspected of robbing the Louvre.

Former host of "Fashion Verdict" Alexander Vasiliev spoke about his detention at the border with the United States.

On his social media page, the fashion historian shared details of the stress he experienced. He believes that it is all due to the increased control under the new administration of Donald Trump, and also... his unprecedented popularity.

"At the airport, they took my fingerprints and asked three questions: 1. What brought you to the USA? 2. Who will you be meeting? Name names and addresses. 3. Why is the entire internet filled with posters of your performances? My answers in good English did not satisfy the border guard," Vasiliev writes.

He was taken to a special room for detainees, prohibited from using his smartphone, and even forbidden to go to the bathroom without the officer's permission. Then the most interesting part happened. The television host was suspected of a recent robbery of the Louvre and was asked to present his luggage for inspection. "At that point, I started to worry. Fortunately, the search did not last long, and they returned my suitcase to me about 20 minutes later with the words 'your luggage has been checked, there are no diamonds from the Louvre in it,'" Vasiliev continues his story.

To his relief, soon the border guard was chatting pleasantly with him, even flattering him at times, and ultimately said, 'Welcome to the USA!'
