German woman Marie visited Russia and noted the striking domestic habits of local women. The impressions of her European friend were shared by the author of the travel blog Like-Travel.

The first thing the German woman noticed was the habit of Russian women walking around the house barefoot. She explained that in Germany, people do not take off their shoes at home — they comfortably enter wearing them, and it does not bother anyone.

Secondly, Marie did not understand why Russian women grow herbs on their windowsills that can be bought in stores. "I explained that in Russia, this is the norm: some plant flowers, some herbs, simply because it is convenient. Moreover, home-grown herbs are always at hand and taste better than store-bought ones," the blogger wrote.

The German woman was also shocked when she saw her friend leave the water running in the kitchen while soaking dishes. "Her surprise is understandable, as in Germany, everyone saves water. Families do not bathe together in one bathroom, as many think, but they only run the dishwasher when it is full, and they try not to turn on the tap unnecessarily," the blogger added.

The author of the post surprised her foreign friend with the large number of dishes prepared for her arrival. For the German woman, it looked "like a whole banquet." "And when I wrapped up food for her to take home, she was completely shocked by my action," the blogger admitted.

Another thing that caught Marie's eye was the way Russian women dress, even going out for groceries "dressed to the nines." The European noted that this seemed strange and too exhausting for her, as in Germany, women often prioritize comfort: jeans, sneakers, and minimal makeup.
