The sister of American country legend Dolly Parton called for prayers for the singer on Tuesday, who canceled concerts in Las Vegas due to health issues, LETA reports citing AFP.
79-year-old Parton canceled her scheduled performances in Las Vegas last week due to a decline in her health.
The singer announced that she will undergo several medical procedures.
"Last night I prayed for my sister Dolly. Many of you know that she hasn't been feeling well lately," Frida Parton wrote on Facebook.
"I truly believe in the power of prayer and ask everyone who loves her to join me in prayer," the singer's sister added.
In December, Parton had six concerts scheduled at the Colosseum theater at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Tickets for all performances were already sold out.
The singer explained that she had to cancel the concerts because, due to her health condition, she "will not be able to participate in rehearsals and prepare the kind of show you want to see."
To her millions of fans, Parton assured that she is not retiring and announced that new concerts will take place in September next year.
Dolly Parton became a megastar in the 1970s. Among her most famous hits are "Jolene," "I Will Always Love You," "Coat of Many Colors," and "9 to 5."
It was expected that next month Parton would receive an honorary Oscar at a ceremony in Los Angeles; however, according to Variety, she is unlikely to attend.
