Dietitian Hamilton: alcohol and sweet soda increase hair loss.

Some drinks increase hair loss, said dietitian V.J. Hamilton. She named two of them to the Daily Mail.

Hamilton noted that sweet sodas can provoke hair loss, especially among people who consume more than 11 cans a week. The specialist explained that a standard 330-milliliter can of soda contains at least 15 grams of sugar, and excess sugar causes hidden inflammation in the body, including in hair follicles. As a result, hair stops growing, becomes dry and brittle, or starts to fall out.

The second drink that triggers hair loss, the dietitian named, is alcohol. The fact is that alcoholic beverages cause dehydration, which disrupts blood flow to the scalp and, consequently, significantly worsens hair quality. "With regular excessive alcohol consumption, the consequences become much more dramatic — hair thins and starts to fall out," added Hamilton.
