Cardiologist Al-Lami: gum diseases can be precursors to heart attacks and strokes.

Cardiologist Professor Rasha Al-Lami named unobvious signs that are early harbingers of stroke and heart attack. Her opinion is cited by the Daily Mail.

The first alarming sign the specialist mentioned is gum disease. According to her, it is not precisely known why oral diseases have such a destructive effect on the body. However, it has been confirmed that they increase the risk of type 2 diabetes by 67 percent, which can trigger a stroke or heart attack.

Another possible sign of an impending attack that the cardiologist mentioned is impotence. She stated that erectile dysfunction can be the very first symptom of atherosclerosis.

Another alarming sign the doctor considers is snoring. She clarified that it does not cause strokes and heart attacks, but if breathing is interrupted during sleep, it is a cause for concern. Moreover, as the doctor noted, people who are overweight, which is also a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, tend to snore more often.

In conclusion, the cardiologist advised undergoing an examination if a person constantly has cold fingers on their hands and feet. According to her, this may indicate poor circulation caused by inadequate heart function.
