Busulis announced that he will sing in Russian

Intars Busulis' solo concerts will take place in Israel. The beloved artist in many countries will visit the Promised Land for the first time on tour. In an interview with the Israeli Channel 9, the singer shared the story of his creative journey.

-- The first competition was the Sony Jazz Stage, where I won the grand prize and felt the thrill of it.

-- Which competition was the most impressive?

-- It was the first one and 'New Wave'. When was that? By the way, 20 years ago. I remember I didn’t have time for this competition. The maestro chose me. He said: you will represent Latvia. At that time, I was traveling to various jazz festivals. I came to the rehearsal and left for the festival, back to rehearsal and then back to the jazz festival in Finland. And even on the day I had to sing the second song, like a foreign hit, I had a private performance right next to the hall, behind the 'Baltic Beach' hotel. I sang there and went to the competition. I didn’t even have time to meet all the participants at this 'New Wave' because I was so busy. But I won the grand prize (smiles).

At some point, you got into the show 'Toch-v-Toch', and they only take people who have an amazing command of their voice. When did you realize that you could sing in different voices as different people?

Well, first of all, I should say that on 'The Voice' I met the producers who do 'Toch-v-Toch'. I asked if I could participate in the program because they hadn’t even considered my candidacy. A foreigner, you know, who knows what there. I was very interested in this, I like such challenges.

The filming started a month after 'The Voice'. And the director asks:

-- What about the earrings? Can we take them off?

-- No problem at all.

-- And what about the beard? Should we shave it?

-- Not a problem at all.

-- And what will happen with the letter 'r'?

-- I said, well, give me some French song to sing.

And that was it. Many people don’t even know that I can do a bit of a growl. And I was given a French song by Joe Dassin to sing. And everything kind of started with this 'Toch-v-Toch'. There were some really good performances.

Then there was 'Three Chords'.

-- The songs from 'Three Chords' I sang later at many concerts. Now I only sing songs in Russian at some private events. In Latvia, I do not perform songs in Russian publicly.

-- In Israel, there are audiences waiting for you who know you from competitions, from your entire 20-year singing career. What will you sing for them?

-- Mainly, I will sing in Russian for the Israeli audience, of course. I will gladly sing songs that I haven’t sung in a long time. I will also communicate in Russian so that we can understand each other more easily. And I will definitely sing songs in Latvian as well.

The most important thing is what is happening inside a person. So, I can sing in any language, but I always sing from the heart.
