Lego Company introduced the Lego Architecture set 'Sagrada Familia', timed to coincide with the centenary of the death of architect Antonio Gaudí and the completion of the last tower of the temple.
The model, consisting of 12,060 pieces, has become the largest set in terms of the number of elements in Lego's history. The assembly replicates the actual construction sequence followed by Gaudí and his followers: it starts with the apse of the cathedral and the crypt, then moves on to the facades of the Nativity and Passion of Christ, the nave, sacristies, towers, and concludes with the construction of the Glory facade. The translucent blocks create a stained glass effect, reproducing the play of light inside the temple.
