On May 31, the traditional Children's Festival will take place in the park of the Zemelblazma Culture Palace. This year, the celebration will be held under the motto 'Be Safe!'. Admission to all events is free.
Throughout the day, children and their parents will be welcomed with creative, educational, and musical activities that will help them learn more about safety in everyday life, on the road, and near water in an engaging way. The main theme of the festival is to introduce the basics of safe behavior through practical activities, games, and communication with representatives of various services. The organizers assure that the training will be not only useful but also truly interesting.
According to the organizers, the International Day for the Protection of Children traditionally brings families together and brings joy, and this year they decided to give it additional significance by reminding everyone how important knowledge and responsible choices are. They note that they will consider their task accomplished if children leave the celebration not only with good impressions but also with useful skills.
Around twenty educational and creative sites will be prepared for guests. Young visitors will be able to craft items from used PET bottles at the 'Live Green' booth, create their own 'Pedestrian Patrol' medals, participate in art workshops with teachers from the Mary Muizniece Art School, listen to stories at the House of Tales, and test their knowledge about their region and traffic rules.
Safety issues will occupy a special place in the program. Together with specialists from the Road Safety Administration, children will be able to demonstrate their cycling skills. Representatives of the Latvian Red Cross will introduce those interested to the basics of first aid. The State Fire and Rescue Service will showcase special equipment and tools used by rescuers. Representatives of the State Police will arrive at the festival with their four-legged assistants — horses. At the Riga Port booth, visitors can learn more about the port's activities and the rules for safe behavior on the water. Additionally, guests can look forward to various entertainment and creative activities.
From 11:00 to 15:00, children's groups will perform on the main stage.
