Until May 30, the solo exhibition of artist Sandro Chkhadze Faņķiki is taking place in Riga. The exhibition is open at the MuseumLV gallery of the Grata JJ cultural center.
The title of the exhibition is connected to the word "fanтики" (wrappers), but in the artist's artistic interpretation, it acquires a deeper and symbolic meaning, uniting memories, color associations, and visual images.
The Faņķiki exhibition presents a unique artistic world of the author, built on a combination of lines, rhythms, and rich colors. Sandro Chkhadze's works balance between strict structure and freedom of artistic expression, where rational composition connects with intuitive perception.
The artist himself notes that for him, creating a painting is not just about painting, but a process of constructing form and space. The foundation of his works lies in lines and structure, which are gradually complemented by color, plasticity, and the internal logic of composition. There is almost no randomness in this approach — only precision and a thoughtful system of artistic solutions.
Sandro Chkhadze was born in Kandava, then studied at the Faculty of Graphic Design at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. In the early 1990s, the artist returned to Riga, where he held solo exhibitions, and since 2006, he has been living and working in Tbilisi. His projects have been showcased in Latvia, Georgia, Denmark, France, and Germany.
