It is related to the purchase of furniture for her home in Brentwood — the actress's first private residence.
The exhibition also features items related to one of the most famous episodes in pop culture history — Monroe's performance at President John F. Kennedy's birthday in 1962. Among them are the event program and an RSVP card with the actress's notes, confirming that she personally paid for the invitations for the guests.
Some exhibits reveal Monroe's creative process and her work on her own image. For example, the collection includes a mirror from her home, in front of which the actress spent a lot of time shaping her recognizable style.
Particular attention is given to Monroe's influence on fashion: the exhibition showcases both stage outfits and everyday clothing, including pieces from the Italian brand Pucci, which she especially loved in the early 1960s.
Overall, the exhibition highlights the contrast between the private life of Norma Jeane Mortenson and the image of Marilyn Monroe — the vibrant public figure she consciously created.
The exhibition "Marilyn Monroe: Hollywood Icon" is expected to open on May 31 at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles and will be part of large-scale events commemorating the actress's anniversary.
