The 16th International Multicultural Festival 'May Count' will take place in Ziedondarze on May 23, the event organizers told the LETA agency.
The festival is organized by the cultural association 'Alternatīvā realitāte' with the support of the 'European Solidarity Corps' program. It is planned that volunteers from Europe will come to Riga for the celebration. This year's central theme of the festival will be the dialogue between human creativity and artificial intelligence, between reality and the virtual world.
A rich program is expected in Ziedondarze from 12:00 to 23:00. Creative groups from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia will perform on stage, and thematic zones will operate in various parts of the park.
The traditional tournament arena will revive the spirit of the Middle Ages: there will be a children's knight tournament named after Roland for participants aged 8 to 17, as well as the 'May Count's Trials' — a competition where the winner will receive the title of May Count and the right to choose the May Countess.
Guests will be able to try their hand at archery, participate in workshops on handicrafts and painting, visit a fair, explore art spaces and photo studios, peek into a corner for tarot card readings, or spend time in a zoological corner. An open mic will be available for those wishing to express themselves. The evening will conclude with a fire theatrical performance on an Egyptian theme in 2026.
