On April 19 at 19:00 at the historic House of the Blackheads in Riga, the chamber orchestra 'Davinspiro Camerata' under the direction of violinist and founder Daniil Bulaev will celebrate its fourth anniversary.
In a short time, the young ensemble has become one of the brightest and most sought-after chamber orchestras in Latvia. Performances at the prestigious Champs Hill venue in London, winning the 'Event of the Year' nomination at the 2024 Great Music Prize for the production of Astor Piazzolla's tango opera 'Maria de Buenos Aires', collaborations with Misha Maisky, Andres Mustonen, Janoska Ensemble, and other outstanding musicians — all of this is just part of the orchestra's achievements. The program of the jubilee concert organically combines exquisite chamber classics and passionate Argentine tango.
In the first part, monumental chamber music works will be performed:
• the first movement of Franz Schubert's 'Forelle' Quintet,
• the second movement of Sergei Taneyev's Piano Quartet,
• the Second Nonet for Strings by Olli Mustonen.
In the second part, the orchestra will immerse the audience in the atmosphere of tango — a genre that 'Davinspiro Camerata' has particularly come to love.
The following pieces will be performed:
• 'Buena Riga / Astor Piazzolla, Oscar Strok and Me' by Georgs Peleciss,
• music by Astor Piazzolla from the cycle 'The Seasons in Buenos Aires',
• 'Midnight in Riga' by Arturs Maskats for violin, cello, vibraphone, and orchestra.
The evening's soloists are long-time friends and regular partners of the orchestra: the brilliant cellist Guna Šne and pianist Maxim Tanichev.
The concert will be hosted by composer and musicologist Edgar Raginsh.
It will be a true celebration of music — full of energy, virtuosity, and the genuine joy of playing that 'Davinspiro Camerata' is known for.
