The National Film Award "Big Kristaps" in the category of "Best Film of the Year" was awarded to the film directed by Oskars Rūpnieks, "Dark Blue Gospel," while the best feature film was recognized as the film directed by Dzinters Dreiberga, "In the Net. The Birth of the TTT Legend," reported LETA by the media relations representative of the national film award, Inga Zalīte.
The creative teams of both films received five awards each at the film award ceremony.
The director of "Dark Blue Gospel," Rūpnieks, was recognized as the best director of a feature film, while the lead actor, Raitis Sturmanis, was named best actor. Meanwhile, the lead actress in the film "In the Net. The Birth of the TTT Legend," Agnese Budovska, received the award for best actress.
The best short film of the year was recognized as "Slush" by Aivars Šaicāns and Jekabs Okonovs, and the Juris Podnieks Award for "Best Feature Documentary" was awarded to Krista Burāne's film "All Birds Sing Beautifully."
This year, 85 films were submitted for the award, of which 36 were nominated.
The winners of the "Big Kristaps" were determined by an international jury. The award ceremony took place on Sunday evening at the Riga Congress House.
