On Saturday, February 14, Valentine's Day, the Ligatne Nature Trails reserve invites couples, families, and groups of friends to an educational evening walk with flashlights called 'Meeting Animals in the Dark', offering the chance to celebrate Valentine's Day in a completely unique atmosphere while observing the nocturnal life of the inhabitants of the nature trails.
Four guided walking tours are planned, each lasting one and a half hours and covering approximately 3.5 kilometers, at 5:30 PM, 6:00 PM, 6:30 PM, and 7:00 PM. Each walk can accommodate up to 30 participants. After the walk, participants will have the opportunity to dance to the music of folklorist Aiga Auzina, and for an additional fee, they can purchase soup and hot drinks.
The route is laid out on well-lit, well-maintained paths, making it suitable for children who can walk independently, but due to the terrain, it cannot be navigated with strollers. Participants are advised to dress warmly and comfortably, choosing clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather conditions. To ensure their own safety and that of their family members, as well as to maximize the chance of seeing as many forest inhabitants as possible in the dark, each tourist is recommended to bring a flashlight for better visibility.
The administration reminds that many forest inhabitants, such as owls or lynxes, become more active at dusk, making this event a rare opportunity to observe the natural behavior of animals at a time when natural trails are usually closed to visitors.
