The Dailes Theatre has been accepted into the European theatre network 'mitos21', reported the theatre's representative Agnese Varpiņa to the LETA agency.
New members are accepted into the network only after evaluation and invitation from existing members — 18 European theatres. Other members of 'mitos21' include Burgtheater in Vienna, the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm, the International Theatre in Amsterdam, the National Theatre in London, the Thalia Theatre in Hamburg, and the Odéon Theatre in Paris.
The director of the Dailes Theatre, Juris Žagars, says that this is a success not only for the theatre itself but for the entire Latvian cultural sector.
Founded in 2008, the 'mitos21' network helps to develop collaboration among leading theatre professionals from different countries and organizes artistic events where artists and theatre specialists can meet, exchange ideas, and critically assess the significance of theatre in contemporary society.
