The star of 'Wednesday' will play an unorthodox marriage consultant.
Catherine Zeta-Jones, who practices a happy marriage in the series 'Wednesday', will try to share the secrets of a fruitful family life in the psychological thriller 'Cupid'. The Oscar winner will play a marriage consultant who employs an unorthodox approach in her work with couples going through tough times. The film will be directed by Tate Taylor ('The Help') from a screenplay written by brothers Carey Van Dyke and Shane Van Dyke ('Don't Worry Darling').
The plot of 'Cupid' revolves around a couple trying to save their crumbling marriage during intense sessions at the home of a mysterious consultant (Catherine Zeta-Jones). What begins as an attempt at reconciliation quickly turns into a nightmare as her methods become increasingly harsh and threatening.
"It’s very possible that after this film, you may never want to see a family therapist again. Or perhaps you will—if you can handle it. I’m thrilled to be working with Catherine. There’s no better actress to bring this unique thriller to life," said Tate Taylor in a statement.
Filming for 'Cupid' is scheduled for late summer to early fall 2026 in Natchez, Mississippi. Producers include John Norris, Taylor, and Ryan Smith. The international distribution rights for 'Cupid' will be represented at the European Film Market by Upgrade, which described the thriller as a "smart, intimate yet expansive genre film" featuring "a world-class star and a director who consistently delivers successful, audience-focused thrillers."
