Rundāle Palace Invites You to a Series of Baroque Music Concerts "Conversations in the Palace with Music"

In 2026, the Rundāle Palace Museum invites listeners to a series of Baroque music concerts "Conversations in the Palace with Music," which will consist of four thematically united concerts. Each concert is conceived as a triologue – a conversation between musicians, museum specialists, and listeners, which will reveal the connections between the Baroque era and modern human life. Attending each concert will include the opportunity to view part of the museum's exhibition.

Baroque music will be performed in a modern, creative interpretation. The program will be supplemented with comments about the music, architecture, interior, collections, and history of Rundāle Palace, encouraging listeners to realize and feel how ancient music and art help exist in the present. Not only classical music lovers are invited, but also an audience unfamiliar with it, especially young people.

The themes of the concert emphasize pairs of harmonic opposites characteristic of the Baroque style: familiar and unexpected, allowing and creating, explaining and experiencing, complete and transient… The selection of works will draw attention to both well-known and lesser-known, yet equally interesting composers.

The first concert "Familiar and Unexpected" will take place on February 15 at 18:00 in the White Hall of Rundāle Palace. The date of the concert is symbolically chosen in honor of the birthday of Duke Peter of Courland and Semigallia, on the day when the updated exhibition of the ducal library will also be opened. The concert will feature works by the world-famous composer Antonio Vivaldi. They will be performed in an unusual composition for Baroque music: Baroque violin, two kokles, accordion, bandoneon.

Concert attendees will be able to view the updated exhibition of the Duke's library, where the museum's new acquisition – more than sixty books from the former library of Duke Peter – will be placed in the original oak cabinet.

Before the concert, drinks and light snacks will be offered in the hall on the first floor of the castle, creating a relaxed atmosphere to start the evening.

The concerts of the series "Conversations in the Palace with Music" will take place on February 15, June 13, September 5, and November 21, providing visitors to Rundāle Palace the opportunity to regularly return to this vibrant cultural space where music, art, and history meet in dialogue.
