There is about a year left until the premiere of the first episodes of the new adaptation of J.K. Rowling's books.
Hans Zimmer will be working on the musical score for the new series set in the Harry Potter universe. This was officially announced by representatives of HBO and Warner Bros. The project will also involve the composer-founded collective Bleeding Fingers Music, which specializes in creating large-scale soundtracks for film and television.
The series adaptation of J.K. Rowling's books is scheduled to premiere in 2027 and will consist of seven seasons – one for each novel. The long-form television narrative format suggests a new musical interpretation of the familiar story, while the project's creators emphasize that the sound concept will maintain a connection to the already established legacy of the franchise.
The music for the original films about the young wizard was created by various composers, including John Williams, Patrick Doyle, Nicholas Hooper, and Alexandre Desplat. The new series will offer an independent soundtrack, adapted to the rhythm and structure of the television format, but without breaking away from the recognizable atmosphere of the magical world.
The music work will be a collaborative project between Hans Zimmer, Kara Talve, and Anže Rozman. For Bleeding Fingers Music, participation in the series will be another step in expanding its international presence: the studio plans to open an office in London soon. Zimmer himself is simultaneously involved in several major projects – from new seasons of series to the continuation of the sci-fi saga 'Dune.'
In addition to the musical team, HBO has already introduced the key cast of the new 'Harry Potter.' The main roles in the series will be played by young actors for whom the project will be one of their first major screen experiences. The show is produced by Francesca Gardiner, and individual episodes will be directed by Mark Mylod.
