A New Jazz Album by Raimonds Pauls and the Latvian Radio Big Band Has Been Released

The jazz big band “Jersika Records” has released the album “Acumirkļi” by Raimonds Pauls and the Latvian Radio Big Band – a new jazz suite from the Maestro.

“Acumirkļi” is a new jazz suite in five parts created by pianist and composer Raimonds Pauls, dedicated to the legendary trumpeter and arranger Gunārs Rozenbergs. The arrangement was done by the artistic director and conductor of the Latvian Radio Big Band, saxophonist Kārlis Vanags.

“This recording allowed me to focus again on playing jazz piano, which I often lacked time for before. I think the recording sounds good – lively,” says Maestro Raimonds Pauls about the new album.

“I am glad that the Maestro also took a creative approach in the jazz genre, creating new compositions. And I am extremely happy that we were able to be part of this adventure,” says Kārlis Vanags.

The album was recorded in March 2025 at the studio of the Latvian Radio Big Band and at the Maestro's home in Riga; the sound design was done by Kārlis Vanags. The cover design features photographs by Andris Strokins, and the design was created by brothers Mareks and Edgars Ameriks.
