On December 8, in a warm atmosphere at the 'Ola' Culture House, where this year the young talented opera singer Brigita Reison and actor of the Latvian National Theatre Raimonds Celms performed, the new Christmas concert program 'A Moment Before the Light' by composer Jānis Lūsens was presented. From December 18, concerts will continue throughout Latvia.
"My idea was to create a duet in which the timbres and the sound of the voice would harmoniously complement each other, and, in my opinion, the young talented opera singer Brigita Reison with her brilliant academic soprano and feminine stage charm seemed very suitable for this purpose – just like Raimonds Celms, with whom I have already collaborated on the rock opera 'Kaupēn, mans mīļais'," says Jānis Lūsens.
The concert program includes several songs specifically written for this duet, such as 'Falling, Falling Flakes' to the words of Vilis Pludonis, but, as the composer notes, the main focus is on songs that have already "gone to the people." The songs are complemented by fragments of poetry and prose by Vilis Pludonis, Aleksandrs Čaks, Leonīds Breikšs, and Bronislava Martuževa performed by the two artists.
