The Ministry of Culture (MK) has announced a competition, under which 30,180 euros will be allocated for activities in the field of art criticism over three years.
The aim of the competition is to promote the improvement of the quality of Latvian art criticism and the public's understanding of artistic processes, highlighting the most valuable critical works in various fields – theater, cinema, literature, music, visual arts, architecture, and dance.
The winner of the competition will be required to evaluate the works of Latvian masters of art in the specified fields over the year. The tasks include developing evaluation regulations, creating a jury, ensuring its operation, and at the end of the year – presenting the evaluation of art criticism by the Ministry of Culture (KM) along with a list of nominees in the categories defined by the regulations.
It will also be necessary to ensure public access to information about the selection criteria, the progress of the competition, and the nominated candidates, as well as to honor and award art critics for outstanding achievements during the awards ceremony. Whether a banquet is included is not reported.
The tasks assigned to KM must be completed within three years. Applications to KM must be submitted by November 7.
