This statement was made by scientists from Konkuk University in South Korea based on the results of their experiment published in the scientific journal PLOS One.
As part of the study, 30 participants interacted with a trained poodle named Aro. The participants engaged in various activities, including walking, playing, feeding, and grooming the animal. They used special devices for electroencephalography to study the electrical activity of the brain.
The data obtained showed that the relative strength of alpha-band oscillations in the brain increased during play and walks with the dog. The alpha band is associated with improved memory and reduced stress levels. Meanwhile, grooming and petting the dog contributed to an increase in the relative strength of beta-band oscillations, indicating heightened concentration.
