Why Strawberries Do Not Bloom and Bear Fruit: Important Rules

Strawberries hold an important place in the gardens of many summer residents due to their taste and health benefits.

If strawberries do not have flowers, then there is no point in expecting a harvest.

There are several reasons why strawberries may not bloom. One of them is late planting. The optimal time for planting strawberries is late July or early August.

It is important not only to plant the plant correctly but also to choose the appropriate depth. Strawberries have what is called a “crown,” which should not be buried in the soil, as it is responsible for flowering.

When applying fertilizers, it is necessary to follow the dosage and avoid overdoing it. An excess of nitrogen can cause strawberries to start “growing lush” and refuse to bloom.

Sometimes, instead of garden strawberries, one may encounter a wild variety that will never bloom but will quickly take over the area.

The absence of flowers may also indicate the degeneration of remontant strawberries. In this case, it will be necessary to remove the old bushes and plant new ones.

A lack of sunlight negatively affects the future harvest of strawberries. Excessive shading can lead to strawberries not blooming.
