Fruits pose a threat to individuals over 50 years old if they have certain ailments, reported nutritionist E. Solomatina.
The specialist noted that the main importance lies not in the age category, but in diseases. It is these that serve as the key contraindication. As the doctor pointed out, those who have been diagnosed with diabetes and have elevated blood glucose levels should completely forget about fruits.
The expert also reported that melons and watermelons can raise blood pressure, as these fruits contain a lot of water. If combined with salty foods, this will cause fluid retention, which will increase blood pressure.
Individuals over 50 years old without serious ailments are allowed to consume any fruits in small quantities, the doctor concluded.
