A slice of lemon or citrus juice can make coffee even healthier, said dietitian N. Denisova.

According to the expert, lemon enriches coffee with antioxidants. These substances prevent oxidative processes in the body that provoke premature aging. Denisova also stated that this combination helps strengthen the immune system during the cold season. Coffee is already a good antioxidant, and the vitamin C found in lemon will only enhance the benefits of the drink.

Denisova noted that coffee beans contain zinc, iron, and B vitamins, which stimulate the production of immunoglobulins that enhance protection against microbes and viruses.

As the dietitian stated, the tonic effect of the aromatic drink is further increased by lemon. Caffeine, which blocks adenosine receptors in the brain responsible for drowsiness, gives a person energy and alertness. Lemon has a similar effect. The specialist observed that the combination of coffee with citrus also accelerates metabolism.

However, despite the benefits of coffee with lemon, the expert advises not to replace breakfast with it and to drink no more than 3 cups a day.
