Nuts can help reduce the risk of dementia by 17% — doctor's advice

Regular consumption of nuts may reduce the likelihood of developing senile dementia, said gastroenterologist S. Sethi in an interview with the Daily Mirror.

According to the specialist, nuts contain brain-healthy substances — minerals, antioxidants, fiber, and fatty acids. These components reduce inflammation, help control blood pressure and cholesterol levels, which contributes to protecting the brain from premature aging.

People who consume about 30 grams of nuts daily have a 17% lower risk of dementia of any origin compared to those who do not include them in their diet, the doctor noted.

He emphasized that nuts are not a miraculous remedy against cognitive disorders. To achieve a noticeable effect, a balanced diet that includes healthy foods is necessary, the expert concluded.
