Why You Should Drink Kefir and Yogurt During Flu Outbreaks

Regular consumption of kefir or unsweetened yogurt helps strengthen the immune system during the season of acute respiratory viral infections, said Dr. A. Tyazhelnikov in an interview with the Moscow agency.

Even the strongest immune system cannot completely protect against the flu and its complications, which occur significantly more often than with regular ARVI.

To maintain the body's ability to resist infections, doctors recommend including fermented dairy products in the diet daily or, at a minimum, three to four times a week. Several weeks of regular consumption of such products noticeably increase the resilience of the immune system.

According to the specialist, one serving a day — for example, a glass of kefir or a jar of yogurt — is quite sufficient. Unsweetened products containing probiotics are especially beneficial, the expert emphasized.
