Gastroenterologist O. Chistik spoke about when to drink the last cup of coffee during the day.
According to the doctor, caffeine remains in the body for eight to ten hours. To avoid sleep disturbances, it is advisable to drink the last cup before 3:00 PM, and for people with heightened sensitivity, before lunch.
In pregnant women, the elderly, and those taking hormonal medications, metabolism slows down, so the effects of caffeine last longer. Additionally, with regular consumption of the beverage, tolerance develops: the stimulating effect weakens, while dependence on the morning cup of coffee increases. In this regard, the expert recommended periodically refraining from coffee for one to two days to restore receptor sensitivity.
For those who cannot give up coffee in the evenings, the doctor recommended choosing decaffeinated beverages. They are also suitable for people with increased anxiety, sleep disorders, digestive issues, and pregnant women, the specialist concluded.
