The National University of Colombia in Leticia found itself at the center of an unusual operation: an adult jaguar was discovered on campus. For the safety of students, part of the buildings had to be evacuated, and the predator was tranquilized and handed over to veterinarians.

An unusual incident occurred at the National University of Colombia in Leticia: an adult jaguar wandered onto the campus. Due to the appearance of the dangerous predator, part of the buildings had to be evacuated, and wildlife specialists were urgently called to the scene, reports rmf24.pl.

The jaguar was spotted near the university library. After the report of the animal's appearance, security personnel restricted access to several buildings to avoid any potential threat to students and faculty.

A special operation was organized to capture the predator. As a result, specialists were able to safely tranquilize the animal using a tranquilizer.

According to veterinarians, the captured jaguar turned out to be an adult male weighing about 110 kilograms. During the examination, it was found that the animal was suffering from an infection in one of its paws and needed treatment.

Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the incident. The predator itself also did not sustain injuries during the capture operation.

The incident caused a wide resonance in Colombia. Even the country's president, Gustavo Petro, commented on it. The head of state thanked the specialists involved in the animal's rescue and ironically noted that the jaguar allegedly came to the university grounds to protect public education.

Leticia is located in the Colombian Amazon, where jaguars inhabit their natural environment. Specialists suggest that the animal may have approached humans in search of food or due to health issues.

After providing the necessary assistance, specialists will decide on the future fate of the predator. Such cases remind us of how closely humans and wildlife coexist in some regions of Latin America.
