The Trump Organization plans to build the 70-story Trump Tower Tbilisi in the capital of Georgia, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Business Center of Eastern Europe and Asia
The building will be constructed near Central Park. It will feature residential spaces, shops, and restaurants. Trump Tower will be 70 stories tall and will become the tallest building in Georgia. The project is being developed by the world's largest architectural firm, Gensler.
This is the first instance of a project being implemented under the Trump brand in the region, notes the WSJ, adding that it underscores the importance of Tbilisi as a business center of Eastern Europe and Asia.
Georgian development companies will also participate in the project - Biograpi Living, Archi Group, Blox Group, and Finvest Georgia. In particular, co-founder of Blox Group Lasha Kvachadze stated in a message on the company's website that "Trump Tower Tbilisi is a testament to international trust and an important milestone in Georgia's economic development."
On the Second Attempt
As reported by Georgian media, in 2012, the Trump Organization announced plans for a real estate project in the Caucasus region. However, the company abandoned this project, along with many other overseas deals, as Donald Trump then stated that he wanted to avoid potential conflicts of interest.
The Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, commenting on the project, emphasized the importance of attracting foreign investments and raising standards in the real estate market, reports bm.ge.
"Georgia has created a favorable investment environment, and the country is economically attractive to all. Of course, this is reflected in the project itself: when Trump's company, under its name, under its brand, enters the Georgian market, it means that it knows this environment well, what it represents," said Papuashvili.
