In the first two months of this year, the total value of goods imported from Russia and Belarus compared to the same period in 2025 decreased 6.8 times, or by 58.409 million euros, amounting to 10.105 million euros, according to data from the Central Statistical Bureau.
At the same time, Latvia exported goods worth a total of 159.255 million euros to Russia and Belarus in the first two months of 2026, which is 6.5%, or 11.02 million euros less than in the same period of 2025.
In particular, goods worth 6.559 million euros were imported from Russia to Latvia in the first two months of this year - this is 7.8 times (-44.334 million euros) less than a year earlier, and from Belarus - 3.546 million euros, which is five times less (-14.075 million euros).
In turn, Latvia exported goods worth 144.472 million euros to Russia in the first two months of this year, which is 7.1% (-10.966 million euros) less than in the same period last year, and to Belarus - 14.783 million euros, which is 0.4% less (-53,900 euros).
Data also shows that in the first two months of 2026, imports from Russia and Belarus accounted for only 0.3% (compared to 1.9% for the same period in 2025) of Latvia's total imports, while exports to these countries remained unchanged at 5.1% of the total export volume.
As reported, in the first two months of this year, Latvia exported goods worth 3.126 billion euros, which is 5.8% (-192.2 million euros) less than in the same period of 2025, and imported goods worth 3.631 billion euros, which is 0.7% (-26.9 million euros) less.
