China will remain Chile's main trading partner, accounting for about one third of the country's total trade turnover with the world, according to a report prepared by the International Economic Relations Office (Subrei) of the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the report, based on data from the Central Bank, the National Customs Service, and the Tax Service, Chile conducted business with China worth $66.555 billion last year, which represents an increase compared to the same period last year.
In the previous year, the most sought-after goods by China included copper, copper cathodes, fresh cherries, cellulose, lithium carbonate, iron, iodine, fresh plums, salmon, fish meal, lithium sulfate, pork, services, grapes, methanol, and seaweed.
Other important markets included the USA (17%), Brazil (6.3%), Japan (5.3%), and Argentina (4%).
During 2025, Chile's trade turnover amounted to $199.667 billion, which is 8.9% more than in 2024, driven by dynamic growth in exports and imports.
The export volume last year was $107.004 billion, which is 7.9% more than in 2024, and according to Subrei, this is the largest amount exported by the country since official records began.
Micro, small, and medium enterprises were positioned as the main export segment of Chile, accounting for 52.6% of the total volume, while large companies accounted for 38.1%.
The government agency emphasized that 1 in every 8 jobs in Chile is created by exporting companies.
