The Scandinavian airline SAS announced on Tuesday that it is temporarily raising ticket prices due to the sharp rise in oil prices caused by the war between the U.S. and Iran, LETA reports citing AFP.
"In recent days, the price of aviation fuel for jet aircraft in Europe has sharply increased, reaching its highest level since 2022, which is mainly attributed to global supply disruptions," the airline notes, adding that this has had an immediate impact on its costs.
"Given the unusually rapid and significant increase, SAS is temporarily implementing a price adjustment related to fuel costs," the airline explains.
In recent days, oil prices worldwide have surged due to supply issues, as tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, through which one-fifth of the world's crude oil is transported, has nearly come to a halt.
On Tuesday, however, oil prices fell significantly after U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the war between the U.S. and Iran would end sooner than expected.
