A price survey conducted in cafes in the capitals of the Baltic states revealed significant differences in coffee prices: the highest prices were recorded in Tallinn, while the lowest were in Vilnius.
Thus, the average cost of an espresso in Tallinn is €2.87, in Riga it is €2.33, and the lowest price in Vilnius is €2.09.
A similar trend is observed for milk-based coffee drinks: in Tallinn, a cappuccino costs an average of €3.77, while a latte costs €3.93. For comparison, in Riga, the corresponding prices are €3.21 and €3.44, while in Vilnius they are €3.01 and €3.16.
To provide a more complete picture, the study also assessed the availability of coffee based on the average salary for 2025. This involved calculating how many cups of espresso can be purchased in each capital with the average monthly salary.
Although in absolute terms, coffee prices in Tallinn are the highest, the city ranks in the middle in terms of availability: with the average salary, one can buy about 640 cups of espresso here.
Vilnius leads in the availability index, where one can purchase approximately 774 cups of espresso with the average salary, while Riga has the lowest figure at 585 cups.
