Renting Beyond Reach: The Third Riga Restaurant from the Michelin List Has Closed

The restaurant "Ferma," included in the international gastronomic guide "Michelin Guide," has closed, confirmed LETA by the restaurant owner Maris Astičs.

He noted that the decision to cease operations in the premises in Riga opposite Viesturdarzs Park was made after the rental conditions suddenly changed, and it was not possible to agree on a new format of cooperation in these premises.

Additionally, considering the seasonal situation in the restaurant industry at the beginning of the year, further operations became impossible and economically unjustifiable. Therefore, the decision was made to vacate the premises, the restaurant owner reported.

Astičs indicated that the company left the premises in February of this year.

In response to the question of whether the restaurant could close permanently, he said: "I would not want to think that way. It’s a good year, and I believe that we will find new premises for the restaurant soon. Perhaps it will be a different format, but I haven’t given up," Astičs stated.

As reported by bb.lv, at the end of January, the restaurant Barents, included in the international gastronomic guide Michelin Guide, closed in Old Riga on Smilšu Street. According to the restaurant director, the main reasons for the closure were the insufficient number of tourists throughout the year. "At the same time, unfortunately, locals cannot afford to regularly visit high-class restaurants," the director noted.

Earlier, on January 12, the seafood restaurant Tails, also included in the Michelin Guide, ceased operations on Antonijas Street in Riga.
