Following the House of Moscow in Riga, the Riga Railway Station in Moscow will be put up for sale

The Russian government has approved the sale of the Riga Railway Station building at an open auction.

The starting price will be set "at the market value determined based on the report of an independent appraiser," the document states.

The portal bb.lv has already reported that Russian Railways is ready to part with the Riga Railway Station. At that time, the holding estimated the value of the property at approximately 1 billion rubles (about 11 million euros).

A representative of Russian Railways stated that the sale of the station would allow for "integrating the cultural heritage site into the modern urban environment in a different status," as well as creating an attractive public space for the residents of Moscow and tourists.

The Riga Railway Station was built in the neo-Russian style. It was opened in 1901 and was named Vindava Station — in honor of the Latvian city of Vindava (now Ventspils), which was connected to Moscow by railway. In 1930, the station changed its name to Baltic Station, in 1942 it became Rzhevsky Station, and it received its current name in 1946.

As for the House of Moscow in Riga, it was confiscated by the Latvian state in January 2024. It was planned to sell the building at auction, and the proceeds were to be sent to Ukraine. However, eight auctions have already taken place, the price has been reduced from 3.57 million euros to 2.142 million euros, but not a single buyer has appeared at the auction.
