Total tax debts at the beginning of February amounted to €830.763 million

At the beginning of February, total tax debts, including current, suspended debts, and debts with extended payment terms, amounted to €830.763 million, which is 1.8% more than the previous month, according to data from the State Revenue Service.

This includes a debt to the main state budget of €352.481 million as of February 1, which is 4.7% more than the previous month, a debt to local government budgets of €294.066 million, which is 0.6% less, and debts for social security contributions of €184.216 million, which is 0.5% more.

As of February 1, current debts on which penalties are charged amounted to 65.2% of the total amount, or €541.466 million.

Debts in the amount of €2.116 million, which were formed by liquidated enterprises before the completion of the liquidation process, were recognized as uncollectible.

Debts in the amount of €539.35 million were recognized as collectible according to regulations, including debts subject to actual collection amounting to €244.391 million and debts not subject to actual collection amounting to €294.959 million. For debts of €294.903 million recognized as not subject to actual collection, the debtors have no funds or property that could be seized, and the statute of limitations has expired for the collection of debts amounting to €55,800.

As of February 1, an extension of the repayment period was granted for debts totaling €76.766 million, which is 16.2% more.

The amount of suspended debts, for which the accrual of penalties has been stopped, at the beginning of February amounted to €212.531 million - these are debts of enterprises recognized as insolvent.

As of February 1, 2025, the total tax debt in Latvia was €815.729 million.
