In January this year, 979 new enterprises were registered in Latvia, which is 5.7% more than in January 2025, according to aggregated data from "Lursoft".
According to "Lursoft", this is the highest number of new enterprise registrations in recent years. At the same time, 449 enterprises were liquidated in the first month of the year.
"Lursoft" reports that the total equity capital of new enterprises registered in January this year reached 5.3 million euros. One enterprise, LLC "Mazmežotnes muiža", had an equity capital exceeding 1 million euros. The founder of the company is Aris Burkans, the owner of LLC "Viesturu rapsis" and the farm "Sējas".
The second largest new enterprise registered in January is also located outside the capital - LLC "VMG auto" in Jelgava. Its equity capital was invested by LLC "Anru Motors" amounting to 602,800 euros. According to "Lursoft", in 2024, "Anru Motors" operated with a turnover of 1.32 million euros and a profit of 1,220 euros. Currently, the enterprise has two active structural units registered - an auto shop with service and an auto center in Jelgava. According to available information, in the fourth quarter of 2025, the company employed 30 staff members.
Among the top 10 largest new enterprises outside the capital registered last month are LLC "MIEAP Capital" with an equity capital of 300,000 euros in the Marupe region, LLC "Stiga RM Next Gen" with an equity capital of 255,000 euros in the Tukums region, and LLC "Spectre LV" with an equity capital of 200,000 euros in the Jelgava region.
Registered in Kalnciems, Jelgava region, LLC "Spectre LV" also became the largest new enterprise with foreign capital in January. The founder of the company is the Danish joint-stock company "Spectre", which also owns the real estate company "Spectre LV Latvia Real Estate" in the Dobele region. According to aggregated data from "Lursoft", 143 new enterprises registered in January attracted foreign capital.
The largest enterprises registered in January 2026 by equity capital are "Mazmežotnes muiža" with 1.1 million euros, "VMG auto" with 602,800 euros, LLC "Wilhelm Hjordt property" with 330,000 euros, LLC "K6J" with 315,000 euros, "MIEAP Capital" with 300,000 euros, "Stiga RM Next Gen" with 255,000 euros, LLC "Artora" with 250,000 euros, "Spectre LV" with 200,000 euros, LLC "SB ESPV" with 164,420 euros, and LLC "Brighty" with 150,000 euros.
Of all new enterprises registered in January, 87.44% are limited liability companies, and 10.93% are individual entrepreneurs. Additionally, seven branches of foreign entrepreneurs, six farms, two limited partnerships, and one general partnership were registered last month. The general partnership "Būvenergo Group" registered last month was established by the enterprises LLC "Elektro Star" and LLC "Energo-2".
As before, in January, more than half of the new LLCs had an equity capital of up to 2,800 euros - their share was 57.31%. According to "Lursoft", in 213 cases, the equity capital of the new LLC was one euro, and one enterprise, LLC "LifeQs", had a capital of only 10 cents. The company was co-founded by Laura and Serkan Karabuluti.
The highest number of new enterprises in January was registered in the following municipalities: Riga - 477, Marupe region - 32, Jurmala - 31, Ogre region - 29, Valmiera region - 22, Jelgava - 20, Saldus region - 20, Ropaži region - 19, Kekava region - 19, Sigulda region - 19, and Liepaja - 19.
